Shikellamy State Park
Shikellamy State Park is a 132-acre park located at the confluence of the West Branch and North Branch of the Susquehanna River in Northumberland County. Named after an Oneida chief who served as a diplomat between the Iroquois and colonial Pennsylvania, the park offers stunning views from its signature overlook 360 feet above the river junction. The park is divided into two sections: the Marina section along the river with boat access and fishing opportunities, and the Overlook section perched high on a bluff with the park's most famous vista. The overlook provides panoramic views of the twin cities of Sunbury and Northumberland, the merging rivers, and surrounding valleys. The park's strategic location has made it historically significant for centuries, from Native American settlements to its role in colonial expansion.
