Pine Grove Furnace State Park
Pine Grove Furnace State Park preserves 696 acres of industrial heritage in the South Mountain region of Cumberland County. The park contains two lakes - 25-acre Fuller Lake and 1.7-acre Laurel Lake - both popular for swimming and fishing. The park sits at the midpoint of the Appalachian Trail, making it a significant stop for through-hikers. Historic furnaces and charcoal hearths tell the story of 19th-century iron making. The park's ironmaster's mansion now serves as a hostel for Appalachian Trail hikers.
